“Improving Your Virtual Training” course

The “Improving Your Virtual Training” course focuses on enhancing the delivery and effectiveness of virtual training sessions. The course covers several key areas to help participants make their online training sessions more engaging and impactful. Here’s a breakdown of the topics covered:

  • Enhancing virtual delivery through audio and video improvements:

This section focuses on optimizing audio and video quality during virtual training sessions. It covers techniques to ensure clear and crisp audio, such as using good microphone techniques and avoiding or isolating background noise. Additionally, it explores ways to improve video quality, including choosing the right camera, lighting setup, and background for a professional appearance.

  • Using virtual breakout rooms with combined whiteboard and other applications for collaboration:

Virtual breakout rooms are an excellent tool for promoting group collaboration and engagement during online training. This section teach participants how to set up and manage breakout rooms effectively, as well as how to use whiteboard and other applications to facilitate interactive activities. This builds on our initial ‘learning about virtual training’ course. There are practical elements that learners will be required to demonstrate back to the wider group.

  • Enhancing screen sharing, PowerPoint (including Cameo – only available if you have Office/Microsoft 365 subscription and is a free insider programme), Digital Whiteboards, Chat functions, plug-in applications, etc.:

This part of the course delves into various tools and features available in virtual training platforms building on our initial ‘learning about virtual training’ course. Participants may learn how to optimize screen sharing for seamless presentation delivery, use PowerPoint features like “Cameo” to incorporate video within slides, utilize digital whiteboards for real-time interaction, leverage chat functions for Q&A and feedback, and explore additional plug-in applications to enhance the overall training experience.

  • Equipment for improving online delivery, such as microphones, cameras, lighting, and second PC or table device options:

Having the right equipment can significantly impact the quality of virtual training sessions. This section may guide learners in selecting suitable microphones to ensure clear voice transmission, choosing the right camera for a professional appearance, using appropriate lighting to enhance visibility, and considering the use of a second PC or tablet for multitasking and smooth presentation.

  • Basic understanding of internet bandwidth, computer CPU/RAM performance – how to get the best out of what you currently have:

Virtual training heavily relies on stable internet connections and sufficient computing power. This part of the course educates participants about internet bandwidth requirements for hosting or attending virtual sessions. It also covers how to optimize computer CPU and RAM performance to ensure smooth operation during training sessions. This develops confidence and understanding of why sometime learners may struggle when joining virtual training courses and meetings.

  • Practical element: Presenting back to the group:

To solidify the learning experience, the course includes a practical element where learners get the opportunity to demonstrate their newly acquired skills and knowledge. Participants present back to the group, showcasing the improvements they have made in their virtual training approaches.

Overall, this training course is comprehensive and practical to further enhance virtual training and meeting delivery, aiming to equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to conduct engaging and effective virtual training sessions.
